An ICHR sponsored One-Day National Seminar on ‘Relevance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Teaching in Contemporary Times' was organized by the Department of History of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and an invocation to Goddess Saraswati with a prayer to spread knowledge and light in the world and eradicate illiteracy and ignorance.
The worthy Principal of the college Dr.(Mrs) Pooja Prashar welcomed all the dignitaries and esteemed delegates. Mrs. Kanwaljit Kaur, Convenor of the seminar briefed the august gathering about the objective of the seminar.
Sh. Vinod Dada Ji,Senior Vice President of the Governing Body of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar graced the occasion of the seminar.

Prof. Jagbir Singh, Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda delivered the keynote address and enlightened the audience with his remarkable views highlighting the main theme of the seminar. He brooded over the loss of indigenous langauges particularly our mother tongue in the wake of colonisation. He emphasised the relevance of 'Brahma' which embodies absolutism which is beyond life and death.

Prof. Avtar Singh, Associate Professor, Post Graduate Department of Punjabi, Ramgarhia College, Phagwara was the Resource Person. His discourse chiefly concerned 'sanatan dharma', sufism and truth as a ubiquitous and timeless virtue.

In his Valedictory address, Dr.Ravinder Singh, Fellow, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Rastrapati Niwas, Shimla appreciated the relevance of organizing such events in the endeavour to make this world more liveable and peaceful through the deliberations and dissemination of the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. He enunciated that Sikhism is an extension of 'Santan dharma', which is the oldest religion of the world. There is no doubt about the fact that technology has gripped us hard, but we need to make wise use of it so that we avoid the pitfalls of Artificial Intelligence and the world of simulation. There exactly the relevance of Nanak's teachings come to the fore.

A book comprising 104 research papers of distinguished scholars and professors was also released on this auspicious occasion.

Mrs. Divya Budhia Gupta managed the stage during the proceedings of the seminar.

On the whole, the seminar proved to be a platform for vibrant and intellectual discourse through meaningful interaction on the ideology and message of the Great Guru. The honourable members of the Management Committee and the worthy Principal congratulated the Department of History for successfully organizing the seminar.
