Prem Chand Markanda S.D. College For Women, Jalandhar (Punjab) in association with
Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal organized a three-day Multi-disciplinary International
Conference on the theme “Overlapping of Aryavarta And Ramayana Parikarma Across South Asia :An Interpretive Exegesis of Both Circles Across Time And Space.”The ceremony commenced with the lightening of the lamp and invocation to Goddess Saraswati maintaining the age old tradition of the institution. Dhayae and Bhartiya Sikshan Mandal Song were also sung to spread knowledge and light in and also to eradicate illiteracy and ignorance in the world.The floral welcome was given to the guests by Dr.(Mrs.) Kiran Arora, Advisor of DSD Education Board and Convener of the Conference and Dr.(Mrs.)Pooja Prashar, worthy Principal of the college.He familiarised the
audience with the objectives of his mission.
Sh. Avinash Rai Khanna, former Vice President, Bhartiya Janta
Party was the inaugural speaker. He elaborated upon the objective of the conference informed that since the very beginning India has always remained the center of all religions and the Hindu religion is the oldest religion.
He also said that the life of Shri Ram Chander ji was at once political and social and his
personality is the biggest model of sacrifice as a son, father, husband, brother and a warrior.

Sh. Ramesh
Sharma, former District President, Bhartiya Janta Party, was the chairperson of the first session. He said that the theme of the conference is very significant and that we can overcome the present crisis through mutual co-operation. He
further stressed that there can be no growth without perseverance. He also maintained that the holy Ramayana has given the principles of life not only to the Indians but also to the entire world.

The keynote speaker of the next session was Sh. Shankarnanda Ji, Akhil Bhartiya Se Sangathan Mantri, Bhartiya Shikhan Mandal. He has played a monumental role in the formulation of the New Education Policy. He held that by following the ideals and beliefs of Lord Rama, and shape one’s personality perfectly.
To be Rama means to evolve and this natural evolution is inevitable and stable. One should serve ones country before anything. Every action of ours is driven by self interest. But we should think about nation first and strive selflessly towards righteous action and seek for God in every soul.

At the conclusion of the first day of the conference, the coordinator, Dr. Mrs. Kiran Arora thanked all the intellectuals and
participants. Dr. Jai Singh, Assistant Professor at the English and Foreign Language University,
Hyderabad contributed tremendously in the organization of the conference.
