PCM SD College webinar history department review: The major educational institutions of Jalandhar are playing a leading role in education as well as cultural and social activities. Recently three big events took place in the city which worked to give a new direction to the students. These included an international webinar for women, an educational trip for girl students and an innovative business competition for youth. These events not only enhanced the knowledge of the students but also gave them an opportunity to connect with the society and the world.
International webinar organised at PCM SD College for Women
The Music Department of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organised an international webinar on the topic – ‘Contribution of Sikh Musicology to the Study of Gurbani Music: Reflections on Gender and Inclusion’. Internationally renowned scholar Professor Francesca Cascio, from Hofstra University, New York, was invited as the keynote speaker in this webinar.
At the beginning of the programme, Head of the Department of Music (Vocal), Anu Bala introduced the chief guest and made the participants aware of the relevance of the topic. In her speech, Professor Francesca highlighted the importance of Gurbani music and explained how women have also made significant contributions in this field. She explained topics like gender and inclusion very simply and deeply. At the end of the webinar, Arupriya Sean of the Department of Music (Instrument) expressed her gratitude to everyone by giving a vote of thanks.
Through this webinar, the students not only got an opportunity to understand the nuances of Sikh musicology but also learnt how gender equality and inclusion is needed in the field of music. The event was informative and inspiring in every respect.
Educational trip to Amritsar by Psychology Department of HMV College
The Psychology Department of the prestigious Hansraj Mahila Mahavidyalaya (HMV) of Jalandhar organised a one-day educational trip for the students. A total of 24 students along with three teachers – Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Niharika Majumdar and Harpreet Kaur – participated in this trip. The trip was conducted by Dr. Ashmeen Kaur and it proved to be a very memorable experience for the students.
The trip started from the holy Golden Temple of Amritsar. There the students sat in a peaceful environment and experienced spirituality. After this, all the students reached Jallianwala Bagh, where they got the opportunity to come face to face with a painful incident in the history of the country. The bullet marks are still present in the walls of Jallianwala Bagh, which deeply touched the minds of the students.
Finally, everyone visited the Govindgarh Fort, which holds an important place in the history of Punjab. There, the students got a glimpse of the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh through a 7D show. There was a wonderful amalgamation of entertainment and education in this trip. The students not only saw the historical places but also understood how the psychological factors work behind the sacrifices. The students were very excited during the entire journey and they also clicked memorable pictures at every place.
IDEATHONE-2023 organized in DAV College
A special program IDEATHONE-2023 was organized for the students at DAV College, Jalandhar, which aimed to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. The program was organized by the Student Welfare Council of the college, in which the students were given a chance to present their business ideas.
MD Ashutosh of Rajhans International was present as the chief guest in this program. The program started with the welcoming of the chief guest by Principal Rajesh Kumar. A total of 68 students participated in the competition and presented their innovative business plans. In this program, the students got an opportunity to present their ideas to investors and industry experts.
Through IDEATHONE-2023, students not only gained practical knowledge about the business world but also got funding opportunities. Many plans presented in the competition were successful in impressing investors. This program was special for those students who dream of starting their own business in future.
Conclusion
Educational institutions of Jalandhar have proved that education should not be limited to textbooks only. Events like PCM SD College’s international webinar, HMV’s educational journey and DAV College’s IDEATHONE-2023 have opened new doors for the personal, social and professional development of students. It is clear from these events that the educational environment of Jalandhar is continuously moving in a positive direction and the students coming out from here in future are ready to make their strong identity in every field.
